Toys That Spark Imagination, Built for Fun, Loved by Parents
We’re Lelani and Zelda - two friends, working moms, and proud founders of Little Explorers Toy Shop, an online-only toy store based in George, South Africa.
What started as a simple Grade R entrepreneurs-day project for one of our kids has grown into a joyful small business that reaches families across the country.
Our Story
After that first school project, we began attending local markets around George and quickly realised how much joy our toys brought to children (and their parents!). Before long, Little Explorers Toy Shop became a regular at two of our favourite community markets: the Carpe Diem Christmas Market and the Let’s Love Local Market at Red Berry Farm.
As our customer family grew, the next natural step was launching our online store, making it easier for families across South Africa to discover fun, high-quality, and educational toys all year round.
Our business has always been a family affair. Our now pre-teen and teenage kids have been part of the adventure from the start: helping us unpack deliveries, pack orders, and set up tables at markets. Through this little shop, we aim to teach them that hard work, creativity, and a curious mind can turn any idea into something meaningful.
The Story Behind Our Logo
Our logo - featuring two kids in superhero capes - is deeply personal.
It came to life during an impromptu photo session years ago, when we asked our kids to pretend play as superheroes as we wanted to use the photo's to advertise the superhero cape sets. One struck the classic hero pose with an arm raised high, while the other made binoculars with her hands, looking out for adventure.
That playful moment captured everything we believe in: imagination, confidence, and the pure magic of childhood play. Today, that image proudly represents Little Explorers Toy Shop - a reminder that all big adventures start with a little imagination.
